About Mount Sylvia Diatomite
Mount Sylvia Diatomite is an Australian producer of Molodri® and ACO certified diatomaceous earth (DE), sourced from a geologically rare freshwater lake-origin quarry in South East Queensland.
Why freshwater origin matters
Most commercial diatomaceous earth is sourced from marine or seawater deposits. Our DE comes from an ancient freshwater lake — formed when volcanic lava met a freshwater environment approximately 20 million years ago. The result is a mineral deposit with higher amorphous silica content, lower contamination, and a naturally occurring trace mineral profile that makes it genuinely suited to livestock and agricultural applications.
It is why our DE is ACO certified — the only certified DE input in Australia — and why Molodri®, our registered dry molasses supplement, has been used by Australian feed manufacturers and livestock supplement producers for years.
